About Edmund Lazarus — Founder of EMK Capital
Edmund Lazarus is a dedicated professional with many years of experience in the private equity industry. He studied at the University of Oxford earning his first class masters degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics in 1989. Edmund began his career as a strategy consultant at Bain, then as an M&A and corporate finance adviser at S.G. Warburg and Merrill Lynch before joining the private equity industry as a member of the global investment committee of Morgan Stanley Private Equity.
In 2002, Edmund Lazarus was a founder of Bregal Capital becoming Managing Partner in 2009. He led 15 investments and approximately £900 million of investment at cost during his tenure at the firm. With the full support of Bregal, Edmund spun out from Bregal Capital to form his own firm, EMK Capital. EMK raised its first £575m fund rapidly in 2017 from some of the most experienced and prestigious limited partner investors in the private equity industry.

Commitment to Public Service
Edmund Lazarus has a deep commitment to public service. He served on the Westminster Council from 1992 to 2002 as Chairman of Finance and Deputy Leader. Nominated by the Mayor of London, Edmund also served as the Chairman of Finance of the London Development Agency from 2008 to 2012 and as Chairman of the London Green Fund from 2012 to 2016. In 1989 he was also elected as president of the Oxford Union.
